This is it!
All you need to know about your graduate work placement: where can you go? What jobs are out there? What about costs? And more...
Where can you go?
We have partners all over Europe, arranging graduate placements in some of the most exciting cities. Current destinations are France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Gran Canaria and Czech Republic. Click on the map of Europe for a bit more info.
What about language skills?
Different countries demand different levels of fluency. For example:
- For France of Germany: you’ll need to know the language, to GCSE/A level standard
- For Spanish-speaking countries: if you know some basic Spanish, you’re welcome to apply
- For Italy or Prague: no language skills are needed
What jobs are out there?
All sorts! You tell us what you’re looking for, and it’s our job to find it.
Typical sectors include: IT, design, charities, libraries, PR, marketing, events, film, journalism, arts and cultural bodies, photography, hospitality, tourism and environment. Jobs could be anything from general admin to more specialist placements, depending on your experience and level of expertise.
Of course each country has its own industry sectors, so some jobs are easier to find than others - just click on your chosen country to see the kind of placements we can arrange.
How are jobs allocated?
We take lots of things into account: your language skills, past experience and your future ambitions, as well as the demands of the job in question.
How is the placement scheduled?
Every graduate placement begins with a 2-week language course. Whatever your level of fluency, this is a chance to improve your conversational skills – a vital foundation for the challenge of living and working abroad.
The work placement itself begins the next week, and lasts for 10 weeks in total. By the end, we hope you’ll have developed some essential new skills that you can transfer as you begin (or continue) your chosen career.
What about costs?
Your funding will cover the cost of flights and accommodation, as well as your language course and general living expenses. For more details on funding, eligibility and your commitment to us, check out the Leonardo Programme.
