Czech Republic FlagWork experience in Czech Republic:

Welcome to Prague

Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic, which lies in the heart of Europe – bordering Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland. The official language is Czech, but most local people can understand a little English or German.

Prague is home to a unique collection of historical monuments, including Prague Castle which towers high above the city and shows off all the artistic styles that have influenced its people.

As a ‘European City of Culture' and UNESCO ‘World Cultural and Natural Heritage’ city, Prague is extremely popular with students and graduates.

Meet Your Host Organisation
Vuste Envis is a vocational training centre, specialising in personnel and management of SMEs. For over 10 years they’ve been working with European and local partners to promote social projects and encourage equal opportunities. Since 2002 they’ve also been managing mobility projects under the ‘Phare’, ‘Tacis’, ‘Ecos-Ouverture’ and ‘Leonardo Da Vinci’ programmes.

So – what can you expect during your 12 week placement in Prague?

Travel
Your air travel will be arranged by ETS. Many UK airports offer flights to Prague, but as we book according to price and availability, we find that London airports are generally the best option.

Your Host Organiser will meet you at Ruzyni Airport, about 20km from Prague, and accompany you to your accommodation...

Accommodation
You’ll be staying in a self-catering apartment sharing with other British members of the group and/or international students. The apartments are located within a short ride from the city centre.

Hand towels will be supplied, but you should provide your own bath towels. Rooms will be cleaned daily, with towels and linen changed regularly. The apartment also has laundry facilities .

Language Course
The programme will commence with a 2 weeks' language course. You will be expected to learn some basic Czech, although you will be using mainly English in your work place. The course will also include a socio-cultural programme to help you adapt to a different cultural environment, as well as psychological preparation (introductory interviews with the prospective companies will also take place during the first or second week).

Work Experience
Your placement will last for 10 weeks. You’ll be working in and around Prague, so you’ll need to travel into work using public transport.
