My retirement came to life four years ago when I began hosting trainees from ETS. They were over here to improve their English and to experience English culture. As a result of their young ideas and diverse characters, I have gained insights into their cultures and countries where I probably may never visit. I am always impressed by their exemplary conduct and enthusiasm for life which make them remarkable ambassadors of their respective countries and a credit to their families.
Hosting students is a rewarding way to share my home and life. That they too have been stimulated by their experiences are evident in the rapid development in their confidence and all round improvement of 'all things English'. I am convinced they value , and are well deserving, of the opportunity provided by the scheme.
When the three months placement is over, the friendships continue. Students stay in touch and I look forward to postcards, letters and visits updating me on their current situations.

As a host, you agree to:
- Provide a spare room
- Help your guest settle in
- Be friendly and approachable
Your guest agrees to:
- Clean their own room
- Tidy after themselves
- Follow the house rules
You both agree to:
- Undergo a selection process
- Report any problems during the placement
