English language courses in the UK
The foundation for work experience
As everyone knows, English is one of the hardest languages to master - so when you send trainees to the UK for work experience, it’s a good idea to start their programme with a spell at our language school.
Our English language courses focus on workplace communication and the vocabulary used in the industries that each trainee will be sampling. Classes cater for all abilities, and trainees are encouraged to suggest learning areas that would help them in their placement.
Course content
The language course is made up of the following key areas:
- Pure language & grammar
- English vocabulary
- Language skills for working life – and for everyday life
- Improving fluency and confidence
- Language skills for careers and employment
- English language through a cultural and social perspective
Resources
Each language course is supported by a host of resources, including print, video and audio materials. Students will also have access to research facilities provided by the library, college and careers office.
Teaching methods
Classes are lively and informative, using a range of teaching methods: instruction, pairing, group activities, role-play, presentation and audio-visual aids will all come into play.
Course assessment
The language course begins with an initial assessment to establish each trainee’s fluency in English. Trainees will undergo continuous assessment through observation, class tests and homework. Then a formal written paper will be used for final assessment.
